Learn the basics of glaze composition and glaze testing to start formulating your own glazes in five sessions.

Sessions will be conducted virtually via Google Hangout every second Tuesday (7pm-9pm) starting on January 30th, 2024.

Classes will be recorded and the recordings made available for 3 months following the end of the class. 

Session 1 (January 30) - Glaze Basics, Unity Molecular Formula, Stull Chart
Session 2 (February 13) - Formulating Glazes using the Unity Molecular Formula
Session 3 (February 27) - Understanding & Selecting Glaze Raw Materials
Session 4 (March 12) - Colours, Texture, Special Effects & Common Glaze Defects
Session 5 (March 26) - Structuring Glaze Testing & Documenting Test Results

Students can elect to access studio resources (scales, sieves, raw materials, test tiles, firing) to mix their own test glazes for a $50+HST fee. Each test can comprise up to 10 glaze recipes. Studio staff will fire test tiles. Students must bring their own respirator.

Refund Policy
Total fee, less $75, is refundable if cancellation notification is received 7 calendar days prior to the start of classes. Fees are not refundable past this timeline unless classes are suspended due to public health measures mandated by Government authorities. In this case, a full refund will be issued.
